Privacy Policy

Pocketa is built so that your financial data never has to leave your phone. This page explains exactly what does, and why. Effective 6 October 2026.

The short version

  • There is no Pocketa account. You never give us your name, email or bank login to use the app.
  • Your transactions, receipts, photos, accounts, budgets and notes are stored only on your phone.
  • Receipts are read on your phone. No image is uploaded to us.
  • The app sends one anonymous check-in per day with simple counts, never amounts or merchants. You can turn it off.
  • No ads, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling of data, no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Data on your device

Everything you put into Pocketa is saved in the app's private storage on your phone: transactions, receipts and their photos, accounts and balances, income notes, budgets, goals, trips, mileage and settings. We have no copy of it and cannot see it.

Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google backup) may include this data, depending on your device settings. Exports such as PDF, Excel, CSV or DATEV files are only created when you ask for them, and you decide where to share them through the system share sheet.

Uninstalling Pocketa deletes all data the app stored on your phone.

What the app sends over the internet

Pocketa works offline. It connects to the internet only for these things:

  • Exchange rates. Once a day the app downloads currency rates published by the European Central Bank from frankfurter.dev. No personal data is sent.
  • Crypto prices. Only if you use a crypto currency, the app downloads current prices from CoinGecko. No personal data is sent.
  • Update checks. The Android version from this website checks GitHub (api.github.com) for new releases and downloads updates from GitHub when you tap Update. The iPhone version checks Apple's public App Store lookup service.
  • Receipt text recognition model. On Android the text recognition model is delivered by Google Play services. The recognition itself runs on your phone.
  • Anonymous usage statistics and license checks, described below.

Like any internet connection, these requests reveal your IP address to the server you connect to. We do not combine it with anything else.

Anonymous usage statistics

To understand how many people use Pocketa and which features matter, the app sends at most one check-in per day to pocketa.xproject.live. It contains:

  • app version, platform (Android or iPhone) and operating system version
  • country and language from your device settings, and your home currency
  • whether you use the free plan or Plus, and where Plus comes from
  • simple counts, for example how many transactions you added or receipts you scanned since the last check-in, and whether features like budgets, dark mode or the app lock are in use
  • whether this is the first check-in of the day, week or month, and the month you started using the app

It never contains amounts, merchant names, receipt contents, notes, names, contacts, device identifiers or advertising IDs. There is no install ID, so check-ins cannot be linked to each other or to you. Your IP address is used only to deliver the request and to block abuse; it is not stored with the check-in.

You can turn this off at any time in the app under Profile, Settings, Privacy, "Anonymous usage statistics".

License codes

Only the Android version downloaded from this website can be unlocked with a license code. When you enter a code, the app sends the code, a random installation ID created just for this license, the platform and the app version to pocketa.xproject.live. We use this to activate the license, to limit how many devices can use one code and to check from time to time that the code is still valid. If you bought the code from us directly, we keep the details of that sale (for example your name and how you paid) for our accounting.

Purchases in the App Store and on Google Play

Subscriptions bought in the App Store or on Google Play are processed entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. We receive the subscription status and, for App Store purchases, Apple's transaction notifications: the product, the price, the country of the store and a transaction number. We never receive your name, Apple ID, email address or payment details.

Permissions

  • Camera and photos are used only to scan receipts. Images stay on your phone.
  • Face ID or fingerprint is handled by your phone's operating system. Pocketa only learns whether the check succeeded and never receives biometric data.
  • Installing updates (Android version from this website): Android asks once to allow installs so the app can update itself.

This website

pocketa.xproject.live sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools. When you click a download button we count the click with the date, the kind of device (for example Android or computer) and the referring page. We do not store IP addresses for this.

Legal basis and your rights

Where the GDPR applies, we process the data described above on these legal bases: to provide licenses and purchases you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in understanding app usage in an anonymous way and in keeping our service secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

You have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing and to data portability. Because Pocketa keeps your financial data only on your phone, you are in full control of it there. For anything we hold, such as a license sale, write to us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one in your country of residence.

Children

Pocketa is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Pocketa handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
